HOW IT ALL STARTED
Hangisi was first introduced in 2008 for the Spring Summer collection, with the original colors of pink, black and green. Manolo drew inspiration from Napoleon I, Josephine and Pauline Bonaparte. ‘I have always had a fondness for brilliant accessories, so we created a court shoe with this beautiful embellished buckle, which I found in Italy’.
For the past 10 years, Hangisi has been styled with over 100 different materials and colors and in seven different heel heights.
SOMETHING BLUE
So how did the famous blue pair came about? Well, for that, we got to thank Sex and the City. If you’re one that watched Sex and the City, I’m sure you’ll remember the scene where Mr. Big proposed to Carrie in the huge walk-in closet.
It’s the defining moment of an epic love story, sealed with the much-emulated blue pump. Well, as you know, the motto of a bride-to-be goes like this “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue”. Though serendipitous in its creation, this blue pair of Hangisi, has firmly established its position as the unrivalled modern day ‘something blue.’
A LOVE LETTER
10 years on from the iconic Sex and the City shoe, Manolo Blahnik presents a coveted collector’s series of styles to mark a new chapter in the history, a celebration of A Decade of Love.
In tribute to love itself, a love letter is immortalised in a shoe featuring a monochrome hand-written print.
3 WAYS TO STYLE MY HANGISI
When I first received this pair of Hangisi Love Letter, I wonder to myself “how can I style this pair?”. This pair of Hangisi is elegant, stylish and modest. It can be worn to any sort of occasions. From a formal to an informal occasion.
Hence, I made a short video over at IGTV, of how I would style my OOTD to match this pair of Hangisi. I styled it for work, for GNO (girls night out) as well as just a stylish coffee run. Which is your favourite?
Fun fact: Hangisi is a Turkish word. It means “which one?”. Manolo choose this name because it sounded romantic.
