Biologique Recherche is KL’s Most luxurious facial spa in my opinion. Last month, I had the privilege to try out a facial at Biologique Recherche (pronounced like research). The experience was incredible! In this era of aesthetic clinics and machine treatments, it’s almost impossible to find a facial salon that offers relaxing massages and yet, able to see almost instantaneous results. However, there’s one small drawback in this whole experience. Well, I will share my experience with you.
WHO IS BIOLOGIQUE RECHERCHE?
Biologique Recherche was founded by 2 passionate biologists and physiotherapists, Yvan and Josette Allouche in the late 1970s. It all started in France where the dynamic duo customized methodology of cosmetic treatments based on products with a high concentration of active ingredients.
Through the years, things changed and there were many reinventions to suit the needs but they have not lose sight of their roots. They stayed true to their personalized methodology and products while preserving the authenticity and continuing to innovate, so clients are able to enjoy more customized experience.
In 1992, Biologique Recherche set up its Ambassade (an embassy or more like a beauty institute) in the heart of Paris, in one of the rare historic private hotels on the Champs Elysées. Well, someday I hope to be able to see the original beauty institute in Paris. Till then, I can tell you the one in Kuala Lumpur is fabulous and lavishly decorated. That is why I didn’t say no when they invited me to give the treatment a try.
THE LUXURIOUS INDULGENCE
I have been to some nice spa for treatments and facials and I can tell you that my first impression of this one was the most luxurious and welcoming one in Kuala Lumpur. I felt pampered and relaxed from the moment I walked in, from the warm smile of Zafila, from the front desk to Joanne’s facial treatment. The serene surroundings allowed me to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city life.
Once I had my warm tea and settled down, Joanne the skin expert, brought me into the consultation room. Then she asked me a set of detailed questions regarding my skin and check on my current skin’s condition and what my skin needed at that moment. They called this The Assessment Stage.
Biologique Recherche’s recommended products and treatments are very personalized, since everyone’s skin is different at different times. Our skin is living and ever so changing, so it make sense why this customization works. Joanne recommended me the Lift C.V.S treatment, for firmer and more toned skin.
After the consultation, Joanne brought me to a very comfortable room for the facial. I don’t know what happened once the facial started because I fell asleep. I was told that this is The Initialization Stage, where they thoroughly cleanse the skin. Well, I call it already-went-into-a-deep-sleep stage. You have to go experience it yourself to understand why I was out before it really began. All I know was that Joanne’s touch was really good and firm and I like that!
However, at some point I remember I was awaken by a cold touch and I asked Joanne why it was so cold? She assured me that the she is using tailor-made serums for my skin and she is starting the massage soon. Oh well, I went back for yet another short nap. *grin*
WHAT HAPPENED THE DAY AFTER?
My skin had small tiny bumps appearing on both sides of my jawline. I was quite freaked out and quickly apply a calming mask day and night. I’m so glad Joanne followed up with me and she again assured me that my skin is going through a purging process. My skin was trying to get rid of all the impurities that were trapped deep within the pores. After 3 days, they’re all subsided. *phew*
UPSIDE AND DOWNSIDE OF THE SPA
There are so many upsides actually. The salon is so relaxing and it provided such a complete service. You can get treatments from the face to the body and even the scalp. It is indeed a full body treatment in one spa. Parking was also easy for me, as I went on a weekday. Usually there is no hassle for parking at the Starhill mall, unless there is a huge function or wedding at the hotel.
There is only one small downside in this entire experience for me. The spa has no internal washroom. This is of no fault of theirs as they had to follow the mall’s protocol, which would not allow them to install one. Oh well, come with an empty bladder before the treatment starts.
Overall, I love my entire experience at Biologique Recherche. I look forward to going back and try the body treatment next.
