Summer is currently on a full swing. This season is my personal favorite. It is the best time to hang out by the beach, family & friends get together for BBQ, play dress up and showing off the legs. They saying, if you have it, flaunt it! Ain’t summer the best time to flaunt those gorgeous, tan skin?

Being a former cabin crew and traveling around the world have certainly given me a broad idea for all things fashionable. If you’re traveling this summer, and wondering what you should be packing? My best advise is to travel light. Try to keep things comfortable yet elegant and make sure you pack the necessities. Here are 6 summer staples to pack for travels:

DRESSES

Short sleeves are always a perfect choice for the summer. Dresses that fall slightly below the knees make movement exceptionally easy and it can be used on sunny evening walks on a beach or even for the nights out.

Most people say that the way you dress says a lot about you. I may have to agree to that. What’s most important is that you are comfortable in the dress you’re wearing.

SHORTS

Shorts are one of the best outfit to show off those long legs besides a bikini. Haven’t you heard of Katy Perry’s song – California Gurls, where she said “Daisy dukes, bikinis on top, sun-kissed skin so hot, We’ll melt your popsicle”. There’s definitely some truth in that song.

These shorts are not only great for going to the beach but they’re cool for the warm weather. Here in South East Asia, shorts are a staple because our weather is hot and humid all year long.

SHORTS RECOMMEDATIONS:

HATS

Hats or headgear doesn’t have to be expensive. As long as it suits the occasion and it compliment the outfit, that’s all that matters. Just like the hat that Yen’s wearing. She bought it during her recent trip to Australia when she visited the outbacks.

I’m in love with Eugenia Kim, a designer who has inspired my fashion sense during my travels to LAX ( Los Angeles International Airport). She creates cutting-edge headwears, romantic and vintage hats. They’re all so beautiful and I don’t know which I like best.

SHOES/SANDALS

When it comes to shoes, summer season presents a wide range of choices you can chose from. It ranges from elegant and high style, like Dior’s knee-high lace up boots to a gorgeous pair of sandals or flip flops to go walking around. 

You can also match the dresses with some trendy heels that suit your choice and budget.

BAGS

Choices for bags are aplenty when it comes to summer travels. A crossbody bag is a perfect size for all my essential items and makes any outfit look more luxe. It’s easy to carry around especially when you need to be out and about the entire day.

If you’re going on board and need to carry some essentials especially for a long haul, a big tote bag is the best choice. Just like this Dior Book Tote Bag that Yen brought with her on board. She packed so many things in it.

SUNGLASSES

Last but not least, among all the summer staples, this is one you shouldn’t go without. Not just for your travels but I would say, it’s an everyday’s staple. One of the best accessories to have yet it’s so light to carry.

I’ve got a craze for accessories and Ray Ban Aviator sunnies are my favorite. Yen has a good selection of sunglasses too and her favorites are from Dior.
