// Justin Yap Spring Summer 2016 // |
Justin Yap’s Spring Summer 2016 Collection was shown at the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week on 16th August 2015 in Pavilion KL. I was having a short conversation with him and this wise words from him stuck to me till today – “Fashion should be intuitive. When you see a piece of garment, you should know what to do with it”. Hence, it’s called RTW (Ready To Wear).

This season, Justin looked back where his passion began, in the late 90s bordering the new millennium. Drawing inspiration from the true minimalistic styles of the era, injecting a dose of fierceness and modernity.
From chic day wear separates to streamlined evening wear, the collection consist of easy to wear pieces that takes you from work to play. A quintessential collection that fits the wardrobe of a modern women. “Women of today wants to look and be powerful. The collection is all about power dressing” says the designer himself.
Colors were masculine, urban and modern. Such as stone, sand, slate, navy, sage and black. Utterly not the usual palette of Justin Yap, whose known for his bright bold jewel tones. “I wanted a change this time. Fashion should be intuitive, and I work with my instincts at most times”.
Luxurious light to heavy weight materials such as Italian cotton, crepe satin, silk organza, lambskin and cotton jacquard were used. Hand embellished beading details depicting the leopard pattern were seen on some of his pieces, this softening the austerity of the garments, giving them a refreshing artisanal touch.
I could totally see myself wearing the culottes (left) anywhere and everywhere! #Ineedthemnow |
Personally love these 2 pieces =D |
