My first #whereareyoufrom post (here), I brought you to Beck’s hometown, Hawaii. I thought it was fun to introduce some of my favorite bloggers and where they stay. Since I’ve not been to some of these places, it’s always a good to share these interesting places with you. Maybe someday you might plan to pay a visit to these places. Today, I’m going to bring you to Bree’s hometown – Vancouver, Canada.
1. My name is Bree Aylwin and blogging from The Urban Umbrella
2. Describe your city to someone who has never been there before.
Vancouver is nothing short of incredible. I constantly feel blessed to live in such a beautiful city. You get a bit of everything here – ocean, mountains, and the city.
3. 3 must-visit places in my city:
i. Vancouver Sea Wall is a must see, and must walk! Best of all, this little to-do is completely free – and it’s utterly breathtaking! Of course, while you’re going around the sea wall be sure to take a bit of time in Stanley Park!
ii. Take a hike! Vancouver is home to many beautiful hikes that host incredible views. Challenge yourself to the famous Grouse Grind, or take a more leisurely route up to Quarry Rock.
iii. Explore Gastown, Granville Island, & Robson Street – they all have a little of their own magic for you to discover! Gastown is a great area to grab a cappuccino, or head out for a nice dinner – and don’t forget to get your photo next to Gastown’s Steamclock! Granville Island is a really beautiful & special part of Vancouver; you definitely want to stop by there to shop Granville Island’s Public Market. Robson Street is the shopping strip in Vancouver – be warned, you’ll definitely find a thing or two (or maybe ten) that you’ll just have to splurge on!
4. 4 must-try food/drinks in my city/country:
i. Forage located on Robson Street recently came across my radar, and on my radar it shall stay! Whether you’re looking for a brunch spot, or a date night dinner spot, definitely head to Forage – you will not be disappointed! Learn more about Forage and their menu here!
ii. Top of Vancouver Restaurant. It’s a great place to grab a martini & look out over Vancouver.
iii. Score on Davie is an excellent spot to grab a quick & delicious meal. I personally love their brunches, and their delicious novelty Caesars!
iv. If you’re a caffeine addict like I am, you’re also going to want to stop in at Revolverand Luna Cafe. I simply can’t ever pass by either spot without popping in for a traditional cappuccino! Also, Luna Café has some seriously amazing GF brownies – yum!
5. Areas or things to be aware of when visiting my city/country: (i.e. pickpockets, snatch thieves, etc.)
Vancouver is a pretty safe place to visit but just like anywhere else, you should keep your belongings safely with you. You also want to be aware of where you are as some areas are less safe than others!
6. 3 must-have items in my travel luggage are:
i. A swimsuit I feel confident in. Finding the right swimsuit is a must must must before I travel anywhere warm. The last thing I want to deal with while away is a swimsuit that is ill fitted and uncomfortable. I also always pack my favourite swimsuit in my carry-on just in case we either a) the airport loses our luggage, or b) We have a few hours to kill by the pool before we can get into our hotel room
ii. A great book is always a must have when I head away. I love to really relax and there’s nothing more relaxing than spending an afternoon enveloped in a good read.
iii. Sunscreen is an absolute essential for me when I travel. Not only does my fair skin tend to burn (and badly!) but the last thing I want to worry about is paying high prices for sunscreen at the hotel when I could’ve brought my own.
