I guess I got a little side tracked on my travel updates to Warsaw after introducing the Intercontinental Hotel which was my last post here. I find Warsaw interesting and the history was, in my opinion, a sad one. This town has much buried underneath and there’s some sort of a sad past that people here carries and just no one speak-it-out-loud. I’ll explain a little more as we go along. Hope you’ll enjoy the little tour from my post and the pictures too =)

Such sad yet proud memories hanging on the wall. There were so much Warsaw had to go through. They were being attacked again and again by the Germans then Russians. Yet, they fought hard and didn’t give up.

I had one song running through my head when I saw these: With their tanks, and their bombs, and their guns, In your head, in your head, they are fighting…

This is a short 3D movie. It feels like you’re sitting in a plane overlooking the destroyed Warsaw in 1945. I had tears in my eyes after this short movie. Everything was destroyed after the war.

Warsaw Mermaid – According to legend, a Mermaid swimming in the sea stopped on the riverbank near the Old Town to rest. She found the place so admirable that she decided to stay. Local fisherman living nearby noticed that something was creating waves, tangling nets, and releasing their fish. Although their original intention was to trap the offender, they fell in love with the Mermaid upon hearing her sing. Later, a rich merchant trapped the Mermaid and imprisoned her in a wooden hut. A young fisherman heard the Mermaid’s cry and with the help of his mates, released her, whereupon she declared her readiness to offer fishermen her help whenever it would be needed. Ever since, the Mermaid, armed with sword and shield, has been ready to help protect the city and its residents. (Story derived from Warsaw Tour)
